Pinesmoke Residency

Founded by Dakota X in 2020, Pinesmoke Residency provides an opportunity for artists and creatives from around the world to work in a striking, natural environment. The Residency is an inclusive space where artists and creatives from all backgrounds and disciplines are welcome.

Applications

Residencies are currently by invitation only. The Residency is not currently reviewing unsolicited proposals. The Residency Program accepts applications from the United States and abroad. Accommodations are currently for one artist. Residencies occur annually during the Spring, Fall and Winter. Applications are reviewed by the founder and a selected panel of experts in the field. If selected, The Residency is free.

Residents and their guests must maintain best current practices as outlined by the CDC.

Residency Location

Pinesmoke Residency is located in a valley between the San Jacinto Mountains and Santa Rosa Mountains, adjacent to the San Bernadino National Forest. Sitting at an elevation of approximately 4,000 ft, Pinyon Pines takes its name from the Pinyon Pine (Pinus monophylla) trees native to the area.

 

Accommodations

Travel expenses and materials are not included. Residents are provided with a working studio and separate living quarters. Basic staples are provided, prepared meals are not included. Residents are encouraged to utilize our organic vegetable garden and grounds.

Pinyon Flat Campground (1.7 miles) is located nearby Pinesmoke Residency on a first come first serve basis. *Check their web site for closures and hours of operation.
